"Rivette" magazine tutorial

I am pleased to share a pendant I designed - called "Rivette" - which has been published in the December 2015/January 2016 Beadwork magazine.
This is my first US magazine tutorial and hopefully won't be my last.

Already I have had some ladies send me messages on Facebook saying they love the design
and pics of their pieces have been sent to me.

I hope you like the pendant and enjoy making one also.

  1. This really is a fantastic design. The size and consistency of the seed beads makes a huge difference, as I found out. One of my pendants turned out perfect, and the next was a bit lumpy, but still beautiful. Thank you for this unusual design. Very fun to make!

    1. Thank you for your comment Janet, much appreciated. I am glad you liked 'Rivette' and yes the gradual increase in seed bead sizes is important. I am glad you had success

  3. Hello Patrick!
It was great to see your work in a magazine, and the industrial style is like made for me :) I'd like to ask you whether you used Miyukis or Tohos in yours - I made one with all Tohos for the seed beads, and the donut part feels a bit "wide" or flat or something. So now I'm wondering if it's the beads or me, and thought I'd ask you before I remake it. Thanks in advance!

  4. Hello,
Thanks for your message, I am glad you like this and made one. I used mostly Czech seed beads for the first one I made. With others I made I knew I had to get a gradual increase in seed bead sizes so I mixed both Japanese and Czech seeds. The trick is each time you do another row the seed bead you use has to be a bit bigger than the last row.
Often in seed beads you will find thick and thin ones in the same seed bead. It helps if you search through them and use the thinner first etc
I hope that answers your question.
    Cheers.....Patrick
