Happy New Year

During this last week of 2012 I have been thinking about the year,
asking myself "how would I best describe 2012?"

In a nutshell - I have spent 2012 concentrating
on becoming more "known" in the beading community.

I have achieved this through Facebook, today accepting my 1000th 'friend' request.
I achieved further acclaim through The Battle of the Beadsmith Tournament, in July.
I achieved this having patterns published in the German magazine Perlen Poesie,
and another one in an Australian magazine.

It has been a year of experimentation, finding my own style
along with my love of colour surfacing in my more recent creations.
All helping to get my name "out there".

I am happy with how 2012 has transpired, I hope you are also.

I am looking forward to 2013 as I have lots of goals.
2013 will be spent
** further developing my creations,
** further learning the graphics required for pattern writing,
** releasing my patterns for sale when I achieve a standard of professionalism in the writing,
** entering another Beadsmith Tournament

and hopefully trying to make some income from my passion.

So I shall be a busy boy for another year,
hopefully sharing my journey with you along the way.

Happy New Year
to all my followers and visitors.
I hope your 2013 is a wonderful year and all you desire comes to you with ease.

Pink Lotus

To all my followers and viewers I take this opportunity to wish each and everyone of you a
Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

It is Christmas morning and I managed to finally finish
my necklace - Pink Lotus.

I have been working on this for quite awhile and kept being
interrupted with other commitments - being the festive season.

I am very happy with this one as in the making I came up with a way to make it much easier than I have done in the past.

Patterns will be written in the not too distant future.

This image is a close up on the centrepiece and the dangles.

I hope you like it.

Lotus Bloom

I started one project and ended up making something else. Does that happen to you?

I wanted to bezel a rivoli and then create a Cubic Right Angle Weave out from the bezel.
As I started the CRAW I wasn't impressed. I then decided to make a CRAW separate from the rivoli and attach them somehow.

Here is what I ended up with. Coming up with this system I realised I had found a way to improve on quite a few of my earlier designs. Making them quicker and easier to create.

It certainly pays to experiment.

Tea Rose - the Ring

I finally found the time to make the ring for Tea Rose.
This image has been rolling around in my head for about 3 days and I knew I had to make it before
the idea moved on.

Maybe now I can  move on and create my next jewellery idea.

Tea Rose

Here is the finished piece I have called "Tea Rose"
As I was making these components I kept thinking they resembled highly decorated cakes.
I also thought about naming it "Afternoon Tea" until a friend, Kate Bannister Tracton,
suggested "Tea Rose".
Immediately, I knew this was the name.

This whole piece started out from a colour combination I came across that I really loved.
I then made a small pendant and thought it was worth continuing to make a necklace.
I am more than thrilled with the finished item.

I sometimes wonder where I get my aesthetics from as this would have to be the
daintiest and most feminine piece of jewellery I have made
and
I enjoyed making it immensely.

Coral Rose update

I have made a big centrepiece and three different components each smaller than the last.

This morning I designed the final component for the necklace and now I need to duplicate it.
I then shall have the seven pieces I need to put together and form the necklace.

Here is a sneak peak of the pieces with the threads still showing.
I think one more days work and it shall be done.

Coral Rose

Here is the second piece I have made using the colour scheme of my last post.

I really love these colours together and have decided to make a necklace, using this
as one of the components.

So stay tuned for a new necklace coming to this store soon.

Coral Rose "Burst"

I woke this morning and wanted to experiment with these Coral watermelon
colour beads in my latest "Burst" design.

While making the ring I noticed I had a Coral rose sitting on my workbench the exact same colour
as the beads I was using.
Naturally, I could not resist placing the rose in the centre of the ring.

I am very happy with the look of this piece.
I love the colours and I've decided to make something else and use these colours again.
Stay tuned.
