Rosette

On the second Sunday of the month I attend a craft workshop with some wonderful English ladies who are so generous in their teaching and sharing.

The last time I attended I learnt how to make ribbon rosettes/cockades. I became very inspired as I knew I could translate what I was learning into beads.

Above is a work in progress whereby I have done my first version of the rosette. I made this in size 11 Matsuno seed beads and I now think it would be better done in 15's. It is a bit bulky as there is 3 layers.

I am happy with how it looks, certainly an eye-catcher. I shall post images
of the finished product when completed.

  1. Hi,Patrick:
I could hardly wait for Your new piece.
The rosette is beautiful. To tell the truth-this is the only one of this kind, which I really like.I always see lots of rosettes everywhere on Blogger and I can say-they are more or less resemble on one another, based on the same scheme, even if there are some differences in embellishment, colors,or kinds of beads used.Your rosette has almost no embellishment. The whole elegance of it comes from the way of stitching, the directions of beads'rows, the color and the beads'size,or shapes. That's all quintesence of its beauty. This is a very unique and charming design, unrepeatable, not resemble on any other.

  4. I love this flower! It's great with the size 11, but it'll be smashing with the smaller 15's. I could see it as a brooch/pin, too. :)
