Stella in a new colour

Back in early January, I posted a picture of a necklace I designed and called Stella. 

Stella was my submission to be taught in the next Melbourne Bead Expo, November 2012. 

Last week I received notification my submission has been accepted pending receipt of the sample necklace.

I like to keep the first of each design and thought I would like to see Stella in a different colour. 

Above is the new colour way for Stella. There are five colours in this version, yellow, cream, white and silver, with each "star" being joined with 3mm lime Swarovski crystals.

I will be sending this off to the Bead Society of Victoria and this necklace will be what I am teaching in the next Expo, just in time for Summer 2013. 

Sapphire Blue

Here is a pendant I made last July (thereabouts I think). 

I was experimenting with Diamantes and used this lovely two hole Blue Sapphire colour Swarovski. 

It really glistens in person.

Add size 11's in metallised silver, 4mm AB Clear Swarovski crystals and clear fringing beads (drops) and you can create this.

I am not too sure I even remember how I made this anymore. I must start writing down my designs. 

Here is a necklace I created in 2009 and thought I would show again. 

Size 11 AB silver seed bead Herringbone weave with Celtic Knots being worked into the design.

Very elegant and always gets a comment when worn, I'm told. Isn't that what it's all about?

My Soutache

My last post was showing a portion of a necklace that was on my beading mat.

Here is the almost finished piece with the remainder of the necklace rope and clasp to complete.

I am really pleased at how this looks and couldn't wait to share it with my followers. 

Unfortunately my picture isn't showing the colours very well. I will have to take another in better light when I can. The colours are pearl white and various shades of pink in the seeds and beads.

I think this piece is combining a few different looks i.e. quilling and soutache. It is something I have been developing for awhile and even though I still have lots to experiment with I think I have found the direction I wish to travel and really perfect.

Your comments would be appreciated and I don't have a name for this piece so suggestions welcomed.

Currently on my beading mat

Here is a picture of what I am currently working on. I am very happy with how it is progressing and I wanted to share/tease my audience.   ;-D

This item is a follow on from my Peacock necklace posted earlier last week and I am learning totally new things as I figure out how to create the design.

In the past I sit with an idea, get beads out and start to create. It is a round about way of doing things and involves much doing and undoing to get the best result.

I feel I am now at the point where it is time for me to sketch out my ideas and write notes. I have so many possible designs going through my head that I am forgetting some because I didn't write them down.

I think I have mentioned before, too many ideas, too little time and not enough pairs of hands.

The Golden Flower

Here is The Golden Flower -   another item I have been experimenting with and is a follow on from the pendant I posted last week.

 I am thrilled with the look of this piece and will certainly be continuing to use this design in future creations. 

There is loads of opportunity to alter the centre bead. It could be a bead, a rivoli, a peyote centre, a button etc. Whatever your heart desires really.

So my recent posts have been the items I have been experimenting with. Worth the wait I think.

Peacock

Here is a piece I have decided to call Peacock. 

Whilst making the necklace I kept thinking of the word Peacock because of the colours chosen 

and the splay formed with the centre design.

This design really came about by accident. I was experimenting trying to create one thing and realised it wasn't working then my internal voices said - "keep playing with this" - so I continued and 

I'm very glad I did.

On the left you see the front of the necklace with the copper coloured rivoli showing. 

On the right the "back" of the rivoli, also attractive, enables the necklace to be worn both sides. 

There is a part of me that prefers the back to the front.

In creating this I have learnt new directions and I am very keen to start another. 

The second one will be a lot easier as you already know what you are doing. 

I really love experimenting but sometimes you struggle to get that last thread through those 

already full of thread seed beads .
